See Them Grow

It is amazing to see just how fast a baby rabbit grows, and young Dutch are no exception. Dutch as a breed, mature a lot faster than many of the larger breeds and until recently they were the only breed within the BRC that was accepted as having reached adult at 4 months old. Due to new changes in BRC rules regarding minimum ages for showing rabbits, Dutch have been brought into line with all other breeds and now are not classed as adults until they are 5 months old.

To see just how rapidly a baby Dutch matures please browse my images below tracking a baby Dutch from birth to adulthood.

Please note that for welfare reasons baby rabbits should NOT be routinely disturbed in their nest, these photographs were taken with extreme caution for the purposes of educating my site readers. The mother of this litter was chosen carefully for this project as she is very trusting of people and she had situated her nest at the front of the hutch by the door.
